LBCC’s sport teams had an eventful season

LBCC women’s spring sports delivered fantastic seasons, with multiple programs earning conference titles, going on postseason runs, and state-level success.

The women’s beach volleyball team finished the year 21–4 overall, showing consistent dominance throughout the season. The team went a perfect 10–0 in conference play.

The Vikings success continued in postseason play as LBCC was crowned Beach Champs and also captured the SCC Pair Championship in 2026.

Women’s volleyball also put together an impressive run, finishing 20–10 overall and going undefeated at 8–0 in conference play. The team secured the conference championship and regularly controlled matches, winning most contests either 3–0 or 3–1.

The season also marked a major milestone, as they reached the final four of their tournament for the first time in 25 years.

The women’s softball team had one of its strongest seasons in recent history, finishing 33–11–1 overall and 15–6 in conference.

The Vikings earned a regional title and a “return to the state tournament for the first time since 2001” head coach Megan Martinez said.

Offensively, the team was one of the most powerful teams in their region, hitting 43 home runs and scoring a total of 366 runs over the season.

Women’s swim and dive made program history by winning LBCC’s first-ever state championship, finishing with a total of 500.5 points.

“Winning our conference championship gave us momentum and all my best friends are here so doing this for them.” said Avari White when asked about her best memory from the season so far, just a week before winning state.

The depth and consistency across events helped secure the title, led by standout swimmer Samira Semaan, who earned six gold medals on her own.

“I am very satisfied with the team, they are having a historical performance here and having a good time doing it” said the director of aquatics, Bradley Adamson.

On the track side, three LBCC athletes qualified for the state meet, continuing the program’s presence at the championship level and representing the team well on a bigger stage.

Distance runner Itzel Aguilar led the women’s track and field team in the 10,000 meters with an outstanding 2nd-place finish in 40:23.94.

Naomi Coffee earned Scholar-athlete of the year and ran a lifetime best 12.39 in 100m.

While men’s programs also competed hard, men’s volleyball going 18–9 overall and 10–4 in conference before falling short in the state championship match, baseball finished 18–21 overall with a 13–11 conference record.

The season was largely defined by the success and historic achievements of LBCC’s women’s teams across multiple sports.
