Jacqie Rivera, daughter of singer Jenni Rivera, held an acoustic concert and party to celebrate the release of her latest album, “Corazon Desnudo,” outside the Jenni Rivera Performing Arts Center at LBCC’s Liberal Arts Campus on Oct. 13.
LBCC Superintendent-President Mike Muñoz personally thanked Rivera for her family’s contributions to the campus and for helping build the Jenni Rivera Performing Arts Center itself.
“Jacqie, your artistry, your talent, your music has such an impact on our community and we are so grateful to be able to host this event,” Muñoz said.
During the Q&A session, Jacqie mentioned that she was thinking about following in her mother’s footsteps and attending LBCC.
“I actually have the goal of coming here for nursing, but you know life kind of shifts around, and you never know I might come back,” Rivera said.

Many attendees were Jenni Rivera fans who discovered Jacqie’s music through her mother. Jacqie referenced her mother several times throughout the event.
“It means a lot to me to be able to share this [album] in a place named after my mom,” Rivera said.
One of the fans at the event was Darline Bradford, a cancer survivor who lost one of her legs to the disease.
Bradford described a difficult period in her life when she learned she had stage four cancer while caring for her mother, who had dementia.
During this period she was only able to attend one concert, one where Rivera dedicated her song, “Existo Yo,” to Bradford.
“That moment gave me the strength to push on and I’ve been a fan ever since,” Bradford said. “Her music really helped me a lot. She’s an amazing friend, someone you can talk to.”
Rivera is very community-oriented, according to one of the event organizers, Patty Gregory, who is close to Jacqie and the Rivera team.
“She likes to participate with anyone who supports the community because of the connection she has to her mom,” Gregory said.
The acoustic concert featured three songs from Rivera’s album, performed alongside two musicians from the band TI85.
During an on-stage interview, Rivera mentioned that the entire album was a healing process for her.
Rivera once again related to her mother, who also worked on much of her music while raising multiple children.
