After the first ASB electionās votes were invalidated in early May, the reelection concluded on May 22.
The results for the reelection are posted on a bulletin board outside of the student union in the B-building, however there has been no public email sent or statement posted on the lbccasb and lbccstudentlife instagramās, although elected students received the results on May 27.
The ASB election ended with Priince Bass being reelected as ASB president, Pise Leiataua remaining as student trustee, vice president of legislative affairs position won by Christopher Ragsdale, Heather Rodriguez voted in as ASB secretary and the treasurer position won by Julian Johnson.
The only contested position in the reelection was student trustee.
The Viking reached out to Leiataua to comment on the reelection, but she wasnāt available to comment.
The Viking also reached out to her running opponent Angeline Anderson and received no response.
The reelection was announced schoolwide through an email on May 18, two weeks after being announced in the ASB meeting on May 4.
When Deborah Miller-Calvert, the dean of student affairs, was asked on May 8, why there was no public statement at the time, since rarely any students are seen attending the in-person ASB meetings, she said, āI guess the ASB didnāt do that. It was public in the ASB meeting.ā
Bass expressed his frustration with the delay of the reelection being communicated to students.
āOk cool, itās an election but if there is no date people donāt know when they are going to vote, thereās no sense of urgency,ā Bass said.
The announcement on May 18 that the school sent to staff and students, said the reasoning for the invalidated first election and a reelection was ādue to unforeseen technical issues with the election vendorās system, the College was unable to validate the results of the April 2026 ASB election.ā
On May 8, Miller-Calvert told the Viking that the reason for the reelection was because the ASB administration needed to validate that everyone who voted is a student, and claimed they couldnāt view the results, obstructing this process.
When the system was fixed, then the reelection would be held, she said.
Miller-Calvert was asked whether the voting system was working at one point, and she said that she was unsure.
ASB adviser Kim Hamon said in an interview with the Viking on April 28, five days after the first election, that the results for the first election werenāt out because the administration was actively verifying results.
āWeāre still working on making sure that all the votes are valid. We also aim to be transparent right? And so, when the results are posted, we will be explaining why the results took so long,ā Hamon said.
After the delay with announcing the first election results in a public matter that would reach more audiences then in the ASB meeting, ASB has failed to do the same in the reelection by providing results on a bulletin board instead of on online platforms or email.
