Vikings women’s soccer defeat Compton 11-0

By Connor Aguirre

LBCC women’s soccer scored eleven goals from nine different players in it’s 10th straight victory, an 11-0 win over Compton on Oct. 20 to improve to 13-0-1 on the season.

This game marked the 2nd time in the Vikings’ last three games that they recorded double-digit goals.

“Our team comes ready to work every single day. It’s a full team effort and we rely on everyone to have success,” said head coach Tino Nuñez. “We got contributions from everyone in our lineup today.”

Vikings midfielder Sky Demelo and forward Sophia Albano each scored twice during the game.

LBCC dominated the pace of play throughout the entirety of the game, with Compton failing to record a single shot across both halves.

The Vikings were limited to four goals on eleven shots in the 1st half, but exploded for seven goals on twelve shots in the 2nd half.

LBCC opened the scoring early with a goal from midfielder Arabella Rosales in the 4th minute after Compton goalkeeper Alexa Herrera Ajpop fumbled an innocent-looking shot from a bad angle.

Despite already blowing out Compton in the first half, the Vikings weren’t content with their performance, with both Demelo and Rosales highlighting an important reset during halftime.

“I thought we played to our strengths more in the 2nd half, we played more at our feet instead of trying to force plays,” said Demelo.

“During halftime our coach really helped us reset and get back to playing our game, I think that really helped us get back on track during the 2nd half,” said Rosales.

LBCC ended the half as strongly as they began it, scoring three times in 12 minutes before the end of the game.

The Vikings never took their foot off the gas despite the wide margin, scoring as late as the 88th minute with a goal from forward Sophia Albano, her 2nd of the game.

LBCC women’s soccer’s next game at Mt. San Antonio on Tuesday is the first of three straight on the road for the team, as the Vikings look to continue their undefeated 2026 campaign.
